Little Man has been such a trooper with potty training and he does so well!!! I am so proud of him! He tells us when he has to potty, pee potty, but we are unable to get him to poop on the potty yet. It is so funny when he toots, he thinks he went poo-poo! He doesn't get it quite yet, but I am glad the training is finally here. NO more diapers!!! Yay!!!

Independence Day 2010

Well, last year Ryder had to go to bed so he missed out on the fireworks. We decided he would probably not enjoy them anyway so we said he could catch'em next year. So, this year rolls around and I am fairly certain he is still going to freak out because they are so loud, but he actually did awesome! We went to the Boy's Ranch because Braiden's work had a pavillion that was going to have food and drinks and it turned out that hardly anyone showed up! Braiden was so mad, but we did get some free passes to Bedford Splash and Ryder was able to jump in the bounce houses for a bit. After that we left and came home. Where we live you can literally sit on our front porch and have a perfect view of the firework show in Hurst! Although I did not get any pictures, Ryder had a ball. He sat patiently while watching in amazement. For any of you who know my child, you know sitting still for him is a complete joke. I was thankful to get 15 minutes!

Bad news first, GREAT news next!

So, my last blog, I posted that I had an interview in an ortho office that I was super excited about. I ended up getting the job and it was short-lived to say the least. I was taking a major pay/hours cut which was really surprising to me because, in dental, if you work in a specialty the pay is typically greater. I didn't care at the time because I really wanted to work there. Well, when I went on my interview, I let the girl know that I had a vacation planned for the end of May. She said that wouldn't be a problem she'd just mark it on the calendar and it would be fine. When they called to offer me the job, I let her know again about the vacation. So, when my vacation rolled around, I went and had a blast visiting my family in Iowa! When I got back however, it wasn't as much fun returning to work. I get to work that day and work as usual; we were seeing patients and I was always nervous anyway because working in general dentistry and ortho are COMPLETELY different. So, towards the end of the day, the doctor comes into the lab where I am with two other staff members and proceeds to tell me that my vacation is over and when I am here he expects me to be working and presentable because my hair looks like crap (his exact words). The whole time his is doing this in front of the other girls and I am mortified. By the way, I just had my hair in a ponytail and it didn't look like crap. So, needless to say, I don't work there anymore! I should have never taken the job anyway because I knew in my gut that it wasn't the right place for me to be.

However, I am really excited because I just got a new job in Coppell at a Pediatric Dental office! The pay, benefits, people, etc are AWESOME! I was not very excited to drive to Coppell everday, but all the good things outweigh the drive; plus it isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be!

Anyway, on a different note, Little Man is getting so big and is learning so much everyday. He cracks me up....he'll say "hello Mommy" in and English accent!
He had so much fun watching fireworks for the 4th; I was shocked that they didn't scare him! I need to post some picks soon...I always forget about my blog :)

Life as I know it.....

Well, I guess it is finally time for and update. Things have been pretty stressful at the White house lately. I recently quit my job due to some personal issues at the office. I understand the economy is taking a dive but I still need a paycheck and I am not willing nor am I able to work for next to nothing 24/7. Of course, I never found out what the "new" hours would be I just know it would be around 45 a week with no overtime and still now word of what my salary would be. For those of you who know, I have worked in this office for nearly 6 years and the last 3 years have been at the same pay....Yes, no raises. I have not complained and I am definitely not one to ask for a raise. I feel that if you are valued and you deserve it, you'll get it without asking. I think this is a blessing in disguise though because I was really ready for a change. I am staying in the same field as a dental assistant, but I have an interview Tues at an ortho office which I am super stoked about! The hours are awesome and extremely flexible. Right now I am just temping until I find my permanent "home".

Braiden has taken his placement test for school at TCC and plans to enroll this summer for classes toward an HVAC degree. Of course being in Texas it is the perfect trade to have. He will never be out of a job!

Ryder is getting smarter everyday! He can sing his ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle, count to ten all on his own and to twenty with help. He is putting words together to make sentences and it is so cool just to see the look on his face when he "gets" something. He is so funny...if you say "ouch, or that hurts" he will tap you and say..."you okay, okay????" lol

2010 has been a great so far! Little Man is getting so big and talking so much. He is also screaming, kicking, biting, hitting, etc....pretty much a normal 2 year old. Nothing really new to report other than we are remodeling our bathroom! Yay!!!!

We went to Walmart last week to get our new tv and Santa was there. They were taking pics and giving you a complementary 5x7. Well, Braiden dressed Ryder that day and needless to say, he wasn't wearing his good clothes. It took him a little bit to warm up to Santa too, but he eventually did. Not too bad for a free photo!

Summer fun

I have been so busy it is just hard to take the time to post a blog these days. We have finally gotten our deck built and it is awesome. I already hosted a party for my friend Niki's Birthday last weekend which was super fun. Then Sunday, Braiden and I were discussing pools and we went to Walmart and bought one of those small infatable ones for now, but eventually, probably next summer we will put a bigger, more permanent one in.
So, Ryder is getting so big. He is finally walking, full time now! Yay! I am excited because he is a little tubbo, and I am a weenie and can't lift heavy objects. LOL. He is transitioning from the infant room at daycare to the toddler room which is great. Except for the occasional red mark or bruise he comes home with. Also, I know it's early, but we are getting a glimpse into what the terrible two's are going to be like for Ryder. He has begun throwing hissy fits, kicking, screaming bloody murder and hitting to get what he wants. Of course, I try really hard not to give into him because I don't want to create a monster, but he is giving me a headache. I just hope that it won't last too long...I know, I am dillusional. Whatever. I love him anyway!

Ryder is now ONE!! OH MY....How time does fly. Things couldn't be better. We have slowly been remodeling our house. The kitchen is now done and our next big feat is the bathroom! Yay! Just enjoying my life being a wife to B and a momma to the most handsome little man in the world! The next thing I plan on checking off my list is nursing school. I am going to start back this summer and work towards my degree as a labor and delivery nurse. Long road ahead, but I want nothing more. Until then, I continue to work at my job as a dental assistant...which pays the bills, but doesn't entirely make me the person I want to be. Braiden was recently laid off and is currently soul searching himself and mentioned to me the other day he would like to go back to school to become a history teacher.....learn something new everyday!!! I love my life and the people in it!

Ryder's checkup was today and I have to say, it was quite different than what I am used to. With Ryder, that is. He freaked out when they weighed him and when the doctor came in to do his exam. Then, when I held him after, he settled down. When the nurse came back in to give him his shots he screamed bloody murder! He has never so much as made a peep let alone screamed and cried like that before. He is definitely in the stage of attachment to mommy :).....

I can't believe my baby is already one. Time certainly does fly by. We have been so busy. We have slowly been remodeling our kitchen. I painted the walls and cabinets; put new hardware on the cabinets. Ryder's birthday was getting close and I wanted to put the new floors and countertops in. We had to wait for our tax return, but we got it a week before his birthday, so we were in a mad rush to get things situated before his big party. Everything looks awesome thanks to my dad. He is a pro when it comes to renovating a house. Next on our list is the bathroom. Yay...
Ryder's party was a huge success. Although, when it came to smashing his cake, he wasn't as into it as I thought he would be. We had to get him started on it and then he got a bit of stage fright because everyone was staring at him. He got some really awesome gifts! Uncle Kemp got him his first Harley. Gimpaw was a little disappointed because he wanted to be the first to give him a Harley!! However, Gimpaw and Gigi did get him a car that plays music when you toot the horn which he loves! He also got a Dallas Stars jersey that says White #10 on the back, which was Braiden's number in High School. I thought that was so awesome and super cute.

I take Ryder to the doctor tomorrow morning for his one year checkup and shots, so I will have his stats soon. He is my little big man. He is growing like a weed and I can't believe it, but I absolutely love every minute of it.

SORRY!!! I KNOW, IT HAS BEEN FOREVER! SO MUCH HAS HAPPENED...MY LITTLE MAN IS GROWING SO FAST. HE HAS 4 TEETH NOW AND IS CRAWLING AND GETTING INTO EVERYTHING. Saturday I got a wild hair to pull out my sewing machine and make something. I went and bought some super cute fabric for my project and came home and proceeded to make Ryder a blanket. I am so excited! Ryder has been trying so hard to cut his lower two front teeth and his doctor said he thinks they'll be in by Halloween. He has had a really runny nose and bad cough lately so I know he has been teething. Well, this afternoon he was laughing at me and I saw something funny....I screamed with excitement and said to Ryder, "Oh my God, buddy, you have a tooth!!! I have to call your Daddy!!!" So, I called Braiden all excited and said "Guess who has a tooth?" He was like, "Who". Who do you think, retard!!! Anyway, you would have thought I won the lottery. I'm a dork. As soon as I can get him to cooperate with me I will put some pictures up of his tooth!

I can't believe it has been 6 months since little man was born. I felt like I was pregnant forever and it was never going to end. This is why I take so many pictures....so I don't forget about the time that he was little because, before I know it, he will be grown.

So yesterday I took Ryder for his six month doctor's appointment to get his exam and shots. He weighs 19 1/2 lbs and is 27 3/4 in long. They said he is in about the 80 percentile for his age bracket and he is right where he needs to be. Also, I am so excited because last Sunday Ryder finally rolled over on his own...I know, it took him forever but baby bear has a big head and I don't think he could pick it up, but he has been doing lots of tummy time so his neck is much stronger. Now he is rollin' over a lot and trying really hard to scoot, so hopefully he will be crawling in no time!

SO, MY BABY BEAR HAD HIS 4 MONTH CHECK UP TODAY AND HE IS 17 LBS AND 26" LONG!!! THEY SAID HE'S A BIG BOY AND THEY SUSPECT HE WILL BE AROUND 6 FEET TALL!!!! HE RECEIVED 4 SHOTS AND AN ORAL VACCINE TODAY AND HE WAS SUCH A GOOD BOY. HE MADE MOMMY PROUD. HIS DOCTOR IS ALSO CONCERNED BECAUSE RYDER'S HEAD IS SOMEWHAT FLAT IN THE BACK; IT'S STARTING TO ROUND ON THE LEFT BUT NOT SO MUCH ON THE RIGHT. HE JUST ENCOURAGED LOTS OF "TUMMY TIME" AND COME BACK NEXT MONTH TO MAKE SURE IT'S PROGRESSING NICELY. IF NOT, HE WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH TESTS AND POSSIBLY WEAR A HELMET. SO, I AM HOPING THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO GO THAT ROUTE, BUT WE'LL SEE. OTHER THAN THAT MY LITTLE MAN IS DOING WONDERFUL AND HE IS AS PERFECT AS EVER!

So, I had been pretty miserable the last week I was pregnant. Ryder's shower was the 24th and I pretty much just sat the whole time because my whole body was so swollen.
I worked on Monday, came home and didn't even sit down. I told Braiden to get up, we are going to the mall. I thought if I walked a lot, maybe I would go into labor. Well, the more I walked the worse the contractions got. They were back to back no minutes in between. So Braiden decided we should probably go home, get ready for bed and then we'll sit down and start to time the contractions. I get all ready and sit in front of the tv and the second I relaxed, Ryder relaxed. This went on every day and night that whole week. I worked every day, and at work my mom kept asking, "Are you in labor, are you in labor?!!" I'm like, "I dunno????" I have never been in labor, so I was pretty clueless how all of this labor business worked. I didn't take any birthing classes...I just don't do that kind of thing, and I figure the baby is going to come whether I took the class or not.
Friday comes and it's my day off. I always made my doctor's appointments on Friday. Well the Friday before I saw the nurse practitioner because my doctor was on vacation and she said to probably not go anywhere too far away because I was dialated 3-4 centimeters. She was super rough and I bled a lot that day and had horrible cramps...but no baby. So, when I see my doctor this time, I tell her how miserable I've been and I asked her how I would know if I was in labor. She said that she knows I am not in labor because I was talking to her. My mom went with me to this appointment because she wanted the doctor to know the history of quick labor/deliveries in our family. So, she goes to do my exam and has the most confused look on her face. Stops, looks at my chart and goes for it again. She said, ok, do you mind having a Leap year baby, because you are 6 centimeters. Then, I got nervous, because I fully expected her to send me home disappointed and I would have to go another week until God knows what.
I go to the hospital around 10:30 and the hooked my up to the iv and gave me some pitocin to get regular contractions, doctor came over at 12:15 to break my water. After that the pain kicked into high gear and the contractions would not stop. Finally, at about 2pm or so and 8 cm dialated, I got my epidural...which is a gift from God by the way. I fell asleep and around quater to 4 I told the nurse I was feeling a huge load of pressure, he checked me and said I was 10 cm. So, at about 4:00 I started pushing and Ryder was born at 4:46pm! He was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen!

The last few years....

As many of you know, Braiden and I dated in high school for two years. After our junior year, we went our seperate ways. After five long years, we were reconnected via email and have been together ever since.
We were engaged on March 16, 2005 and married on October 28, 2005. Braiden was still enlisted in the Marine Corps until October 2006 when he was honorably discharged.
In July 2007 we found out that I was pregnant with our first child, a BOY, which we found out on October 25, 2007. He was due to arrive on or around March 12, 2008, but he decided he wanted to make an early appearance so he arrived on February 29, 2008 instead....YES a Leap Year baby! We named him Ryder Jaxon White and he was 7lbs, 8oz, 20in long.
